Maternal-Fetal Medicine

Caring for both mother & child

Maternal-Fetal Medicine is a subspecialty of Obstetrics and Gynecology with a focus on interpreting obstetrical ultrasounds. This special focus helps to identify and manage potential high-risk conditions and birth defects. A Maternal-Fetal Medicine physician is a consulting physician who works with the patient and her primary obstetrician, making recommendations for obstetrical care to achieve the best possible outcomes regardless of the circumstances.
Maternal-Fetal Medicine

The Maternal-Fetal Medicine department is led by Dr. Darren Farley. He completed Medical School and his Obstetrics and Gynecology residency through the Kansas University School of Medicine and completed a Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship in San Antonio Texas.

Dr. Farley is a consulting physician, so initial appointments are made by referral only from the primary obstetrical provider. Services provided by our Maternal-Fetal staff include consultations, amniocentesis, nuchal translucency testing, biophysical profiles, and fetal non-stress tests.

Dr. Farley also reviews the obstetrical ultrasounds ordered by our general obstetricians. With ultrasound equipment we are able to provide a disk with captured images of the baby at the anatomy sonogram which generally occurs between 18th and 20th week of pregnancy.
